MYPAW

:: Other Programs :: Spay/Neuter Wisconsin

MYPAW, Milwaukee Youth Promoting Animal Welfare, is comprised of youth from Milwaukee Public High Schools enrolled in Sponsor-A-Scholar through the downtown branch of the YMCA.  In its first year (2006-2007), MYPAW was limited to 15 youth but it has grown to include 25 eligible youth effective with the 2007-2008 school year.  It is the mission of MYPAW, in partnership with CARAC, to further the efforts of understanding and ending the pet overpopulation crisis in our community and to promote positive relationships with companion animals.  MYPAW youth meet twice monthly and as needed to discuss animal welfare topics and needs, coordinate off-site experiences, plan educational opportunities for the community and coordinate presence at various events and expos held throughout Milwaukee County.  Each summer, eligible youth travel to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah to further their experience.  MYPAW is funded through private donations and various grants.
